The Coast Guard Image: SPARS of past with their future present

This is just plain cool. This photo was taken today as some former SPARS met with some members of the crew of the "to-be commissioned" CGC Stratton (check out my guest post on CGBlog tomorrow) and Vice Commandant VADM Brice-O'Hara. This photo tells stories of generations past and what the current Coast Guard has to offer. I'm betting these SPARS never thought they'd be standing next to a female Vice Commandant- but there she is. I wish I could have met with them I'd love to ask them some questions about the days of WWII. Here's the photo cutline-

PASCAGOULA, Miss. - Coast Guard Vice Adm. Sally Brice-O'Hara poses with members of Coast Guard SPARS, July 22, 2010. SPARS is a contraction of the Coast Guard motto Semper Paratus and its English translation Always Ready. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Casey J. Ranel.
